Umea Glam Kundasang (UGK) is basically Owned/Founder by four business partners. We are all Sabahan from different ethnicity but after all, we are all Malaysian regardless race and religion and of course we treat each of among us like our own family member. Even though our profession is different, we actually shared similar interest. We love outdoors activity and of course nature.
Frequent visit to Kundasang town every holiday inspired us to build something different and unique that has never been done in Sabah especially at Kundasang. We wanted to build something that is closer to the nature. That was when we decided to build UGK.
Lets go further with Umea and some brief information about why we chose Umea at the first place. Umeå is actually a city located in eastern Sweden, known for its cultural institution and museums. Back in 2014, two of UGK’s partner traveled to Sweden to visit their relatives who was there to further his study in Art and Design. From that moment, they realized that the country emphasize in design regardless from huge building to even a tiny room which attract them the most. After couple of discussions, the UGK’s team decided to use Umea as the name for our project, which does not sounds like Kundasang at all but we just love the name.
We currently have 4 domes. At the moment, we will stick with 4, but it depends, who knows in the future we might build more :).

How to Camp in Malaysia as a Tourist
1. GETTING STARTED
Q: What is Booktapak? A: Think of us as the "Airbnb for the Outdoors" in Malaysia. We are a digital booking platform that connects you with over 55+ verified campsites, glamping spots, campervan rentals, and outdoor activities across the country.
Q: Do I need to book in advance? A: Yes, highly recommended. Camping is very popular among locals, especially on weekends and public holidays. We suggest booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance via Booktapak.com to secure your spot.
Q: I don’t have a tent or sleeping bag. Can I still camp? A: Absolutely! You don’t need to fly with heavy gear.
- Option A (Glamping): Book a "Glamping" site. These come with beds, electricity, and sometimes even air-conditioning. Just bring your clothes!
- Option B (Rent Gear): If you want the raw camping experience, you can rent a full set of camping gear (tents, chairs, stoves) through our partner ANBOT directly on our platform.
2. TRANSPORT & LOCATION
Q: How do I get to the campsites? A: Most campsites are in nature areas (1-2 hours from major cities like Kuala Lumpur).
- Best Option: Rent a car or a Campervan.
- Alternative: You can take a Grab (e-hailing app) to many sites in Janda Baik or Hulu Yam, but arranging a ride back can sometimes be tricky. We recommend pre-arranging transport or renting a vehicle.
Q: Can I sleep in a Campervan/RV? A: Yes! This is a fantastic way to see the country. You can rent a fully equipped RV through us.
Q: Where are the best places for a beginner? A:
- Near Kuala Lumpur: Look for sites in Janda Baik or Hulu Yam (River & Jungle).
- Cool Weather: Look for sites in Cameron Highlands or Kundasang (Sabah).
- Beach: Look for sites in Terengganu or Cherating.
3. FACILITIES & COMFORT
Q: Are there toilets and showers? A: Yes. All verified listings on Booktapak indicate their facilities.
- Glamping: Usually have private or high-quality shared bathrooms with hot showers.
- Basic Campsites: Usually have clean, shared seated/squat toilets and cold river-water showers (very refreshing in our heat!).
Q: Is there electricity/Wi-Fi? A:
- Glamping/RV Parks: Usually YES.
- Wild Campsites: Usually NO (or limited to a central hall). We recommend bringing a power bank.
- Tip: Check the amenities list on the specific campsite listing before booking.

How do I confirm my booking?

Can I reschedule instead of canceling?

No-shows are typically non-refundable. It's advisable to cancel in advance if you cannot make it to avoid losing your payment.
How do I cancel my booking?
To cancel your booking:
